One Whitehall Place Wedding Open Day

With the National Wedding Show last weekend, the wedding fair season has well and truly started. I saw some amazing dresses, cakes, photographers and honeymoon destinations at the show and plan to highlight a few of my favourites here over the next few weeks

But for now let me just remind anyone still looking for a wedding venue, that One Whitehall Place has its next Open Day on Saturday 15 October 12-4pm. Come and see the venue dressed to the nines with flowers, cakes, toastmasters, harpists, violins, photographers and table dressing!

With views over the River Thames from the Reading & Writing Room, this is a wonderful venue for a summer wedding with access to the Terrace and gardens which are perfect for photographs. And in winter, the venue comes alive with candles, dark rich curtains and a roaring fire in the Hotel lobby!

We’ve been working at OWP and The Royal Horseguards for so long now it seems like home and some weeks I feel as if I’m there more than home too – but we love it and the people who work there are great, friendly and very helpful – the wedding team under Laura Ramella are very efficient and nothing is too much trouble

So I look forward to meeting some of you there – if you would like to make an appointment to discuss your wedding flowers, please email me

Trumpet blowing!

A good friend of blueskyflowers and a great wedding planner, Helen Carter, has just posted a wedding flowers Q&A session that we did earlier in the year

Go have a look and see what yours truly had to say . . . hopefully it will give you some help in choosing a florist and going about the process of deciding what flowers or style to have at your own wedding

Whilst you are there, have a look round Helen’s site which has some incredibly helpful advice on whether to use a wedding planner, choosing a photographer and much more. But don’t forget to come back!

Wedding Open Day

Held in the most romantic month of the year, One Whitehall Place’s Wedding Open Day is 12-4pm this Sunday 27 February, following hot on the heels of last week’s National Wedding Show at Olympia

It is a perfect opportunity to see the venue set up and dressed for a wedding. Both the Gladstone Library and the Whitehall Suite will be dressed with tables and the Whitehall Suite will also be dressed for a ceremony so you can get a great view of what your day as a Bride at One Whitehall would be like

As the neighbouring Royal Horseguards Hotel’s in house florist and preferred floral supplier to the venue, I will be on hand during the afternoon to show you what is possible for your wedding, walk around the different rooms and discuss your ideas

If you would like to book a particular time to meet on the day, do let me know and I look forward to welcoming you to one of central London’s most spectacular venues

Looking forward to 2011 . . . and I am very much!

In terms of 2011, we already have quite a few weddings lined up – starting next Sunday 2nd January with Eleni and Paul at One Whitehall Place. Watch this space over the next few weeks for photos of the day

Themes for 2011 at the moment seem to be a pretty even mix of rich dark colours on the one hand and cool ivory and white on the other.  We are also seeing an increase in demand for tall candelabra for table centres. I’m planning to post some 2011 themes and ideas soon, so do come back and check them out

In the meantime, one of my lovely wedding planning partners, Helen Carter, has some wonderful theme boards which she regularly posts on her site – if you haven’t already got your theme sorted, go have a look and get inspired

One Whitehall Place wedding open day

One of our main venues,  the spectacular One Whitehall Place, is holding an Wedding Open Day next Sunday 28th February. www.guoman.co.uk

Situated just off the Embankment on Whitehall Place, next door to The Royal Horseguards Hotel,  the venue has a Grade 1 Listed facade, a magnificent sweeping marble staircase, beautiful high-ceilinged rooms and great views over the Thames from the garden terrace – all of which provide a stunning backdrop to any wedding.

We will be dressing the main Gladstone Library ready for a wedding party and aiming to give you lots of ideas for your own wedding flowers.

So if you would like some advice or guidance, to check out the venue or just come and have a chat, make contact with Carmel Mulkeen, the Weddings Manager at One Whitehall Place, here and let her know you’d like to come.

Come and talk to us about your plans, flower needs and ideas and bring us photos of your dress – we love to look at dresses!

You can look through our portfolios, see the wedding flowers we have made up and practise with the wedding bouquets we will have on show.

Come and indulge in a wedding day to remember and let us help you to make your wedding day even better
